SoundCloud is Censoring the Matt Forney Show

This morning, SoundCloud sent me an email telling me that they had removed the most recent episode of my podcast The Matt Forney Show because of my “violations” of the Terms of Use. Here is the email they sent me:

Hi there,

We are writing to you today because we’ve received reports that a track you uploaded to SoundCloud has been found to be in breach of our Terms of Use on the grounds of being threatening and exploitative towards another individual. On review of this content, we have found evidence of this behaviour.

The track in question is:

Episode 136: Drug-Induced Heterosexual Retardation

The relevant sections of our Community Guidelines and Terms of Use are highlighted below, for your reference:

Don’t be a bully: We have zero tolerance for abusive or threatening behavior within the community. We consider abuse to be any activity where the intent is to attack or demean someone else. Anyone found to be engaging in this type of activity risks the immediate, permanent termination of their account.

Privacy of others: Everyone has the right to privacy, no matter who they are. Don’t share personal details of another person (or entity), without their permission. This includes recordings of private conversations, photographs, unlisted phone numbers, and home or email addresses.

(viii) You must not use the Platform to upload, post, store, transmit, display, copy, distribute, promote, make available, continue to make available or otherwise communicate to the public:

– any Content that is abusive, libellous, defamatory, pornographic or obscene, that promotes or incites violence, terrorism, illegal acts, or hatred on the grounds of race, ethnicity, cultural identity, religious belief, disability, gender, identity or sexual orientation, or is otherwise objectionable in SoundCloud’s reasonable discretion;

– any information, Content or other material that violates, plagiarizes, misappropriates or infringes the rights of third parties including, without limitation, copyright, trademark rights, rights of privacy or publicity, confidential information or any other right; or

– any Content that violates, breaches or is contrary to any law, rule, regulation, court order or is otherwise is illegal or unlawful in SoundCloud’s reasonable opinion;

Please understand; if we believe that this individual continues to be demeaned or threatened, from any accounts associated with yourself, then your account will be permanently deleted. Additionally, we may prevent you from setting up further accounts on SoundCloud.

For now, we have removed the track. Please note that repeated violations will result in permanent suspension.

SoundCloud Trust & Safety

They’re clearly referring to my request for information on the identity of Brock Turner’s “victim.” Given that Emily Doe’s identity is a matter of public interest—she is at the center of a nationally-publicized rape case and vigilantes are currently stalking Turner in her name—this is clear censorship. It’s made even worse by the fact that I’m a paying customer: I pay a subscription of $15 per month to use SoundCloud to upload and distribute The Matt Forney Show.

For now, I’ve re-uploaded Episode 136 to SoundCloud with the “offending” content removed. I’ve taken the censored portion of the show and uploaded it to my own site; you can listen to it here. I’m currently putting together a campaign to find and publish Brock Turner’s “victim’s” name and hope to unveil it in the coming days.

P.S. Given this outrageous censorship from SoundCloud, I may need to find a new home for The Matt Forney Show soon, which will cost me. This isn’t the first time I’ve been censored by leftist media companies this year: back in January, Amazon Associates banned my account for completely bogus reasons (depriving me of a source of income), and last July, Twitter tried to ban me so they could cripple my coverage of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.

Independent reporting costs money. If you enjoy my work and want to see more of it, click here to donate. I greatly appreciate any and all support you can provide.
