Iowa Campaign Dispatch, Day 6: Ted’s Cruzin’ for a Bruisin’

Day six of my slog across Iowa to document the inanity of the American political process brought me to Ted Cruz’s Cruzin’ to Caucus rally in West Des Moines. I left it feeling like I was going to vomit. I can safely say that Ted Cruz and his pals are some of the most repulsive human beings I’ve ever had to share a room with… and this is coming from someone who’s both gone to a Hillary Clinton rally and got a pat-down from Carly Fiorina’s wandering mitts.

The rally took place at Noah’s Event Venue, a relatively small building on the edge of the Des Moines metro. Only about 500 people showed up, and the demographics skewed old, though Cruz’s supporters were more fired up than the old farts who attend other candidates’ events.

Cruz had the (dis)honor of being introduced by a three-ring cuck circus that included former Texas Governor Rick Perry—who kept referring to Cruz and Rep. Steve King (R-IA) as “convicted conservatives” in an eerie Freudian slip—and Bob Vander Plaats, an evangelical eunuch who spent much of his speech whining about how Donald Trump was mean to him the other day. Then Cruz himself came on and spent ten minutes whining about the Donald. Watch my recording below:

After washing the grime off, I summed up the day in this video:
